A banner with a Palestinian flag that reads “Harvard Hates Jews” was flying above the Cambridge campus on Thursday in the wake of Harvard president’s “shocking” Congressional testimony about antisemitism this week.Jewish students reportedly hired the airplane carrying the Palestinian flag and an aerial banner with the words “Harvard Hates Jews” to circle the campus following President Claudine Gay’s testimony in Congress on Tuesday. Gay refused to answer whether calls for genocide against Jews would be considered a violation of the university’s code of conduct, leading to calls for her to resign.Antisemitic chants have filled the Cambridge campus since the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel on Oct. 7.The aerial campaign “seeks to respond to the runaway antisemitism on the campus and the shocking support for Hamas terrorism and rape obscenely vocalized by Harvard faculty and students following the Oct. 7th massacre in Israel,...Bruins notebook: Derek Forbort out, Mason Lohrei in

The Bruins’ league-leading penalty kill took a hit on Thursday when the team announced that Derek Forbort was placed long-term injured reserve, meaning he’ll have to miss 10 games and 24 days. The veteran left shot defenseman has been battling a groin injury since the start of the training camp and hasn’t been able to shake it. He sat out four games earlier in the season but he hasn’t been able to settle it down.“It’s a lower body injury that’s been there since training camp. I think at one point we gave him five days off and it was doing well, but the nine games in 16 days, with just the repetitive demands on the body, it’s come back and we’re going to give him a little extended time to try and nip this for the rest of the year,” said coach Jim Montgomery. With Forbort out for a good chunk of time, rookie Mason Lohrei was recalled from Providence.Forbort meanwhile, led the B’s in penalty kill ice time average at 3:34, with Brandon...Trump appeals ruling rejecting immunity claim as window narrows to derail federal election case

By ALANNA DURKIN RICHER and ERIC TUCKER (Associated Press)WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump is appealing a ruling that found he is not immune from criminal prosecution as he runs out of time to delay or even derail an upcoming trial on charges that he plotted to overturn the results of the 2020 election.Lawyers for the 2024 Republican presidential primary frontrunner filed a notice of appeal Thursday indicating that they will challenge U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan’s decision rejecting Trump’s bid to derail the case headed to trial in Washington, D.C., in March. The one-page filing was accompanied by a request from the Trump team to put the case on pause so the appeals court can take up the matter.“The filing of President Trump’s notice of appeal has deprived this Court of jurisdiction over this case in its entirety pending resolution of the appeal,” Trump’s lawyers wrote. “Therefore, a stay of all further proceedings...Andrea Cardenas seeking re-election to Chula Vista City Council amid resignation calls

“ Oppenheimer ” will get a theatrical release in Japan, after all. The Japanese distributor Bitters End said Thursday that the Christopher Nolan film will play in the country’s theaters in 2024.In a statement, Bitters End wrote that the decision was made, “following months of thoughtful dialogue associated with the subject matter and acknowledging the particular sensitivity for us Japanese.”“Oppenheimer” is about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the so-called “father of the atomic bomb,” and chronicles the development of the weapon during World War II. The choice to have the film address, but not explicitly depict, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the U.S. — which killed tens of thousands of people and left many with lifelong injuries — was hotly debated in the media.Nolan’s film was released theatrically in most territories in July, making over $950 million. It’s also already available to purchase for in-home viewing in many countries.
